Tie-Front Top That French Girls Always Instagram

Is it just me or have you noticed the tie-front crop top has been floating all over Instagram? After doing a little e-commerce deep-dive, I’ve discovered that this shirt style is at most of our favourite retailers – and it makes sense.

Maybe it’s the weather, or maybe it’s the fact that every painfully chic Parisian I follow on Instagram seems to own at least one of them. I’m SO obsessed with em! I love how the tie accent elevates your look instantly. Not to mention, it also shows off a glimpse of your skin in a flattering manner.

Hence, if you have the impulse to show a little extra skin, keep scrolling to find out some tips on styling tie-front crop top, and how I style this trend.

*** This post is sponsored by Romwe and this floral print flare-sleeved tie-front top is my pick. As usual, these are all my honest opinions.

Tips on styling tie-front crop top

  1. If you don’t want to show off too much skin, high rise bottoms such as mom jeans, or high rise skirt are always the best alternatives. Besides, this pairing also elongates your figure.
  2.  Tying up an actual button-down leaves the fabric bunchy and annoying, and to avoid that I always opt for those which have pre-tied designs just like the top I’m wearing now!

P.S. Don’t be a stranger, let’s connect on Instagram as well!

I’ve got to say, I’m quite impressed by the quality of this top! The fabric is super soft yet it doesn’t get wrinkly easily which is my favourite! Perfect to pack in your tropical getaway suitcase! And if you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you would realise that this top is SO me! It showcases all my favourite trends. First, it has this beautiful mustard yellow hue I’ve been vibin’ for. Second, the enticing floral prints that dancing all over it, giving that dreamy summer vibe. Third, it features a flowy flare sleeves! OMGEEE what else can I ask for?! And lastly, it showcases a tie-front crop silhouette that shows off a glimpse of your stomach!

For this look, I want to channel that Parisian vibe. Instead of a pair of denim shorts, I teamed it with my medium washed high rise mom jeans as I want to look more sophisticated. Not only the high rise fit looks flattering on my stomach, it also balances the sexy accent of the top. To complement that effortlessly vibe, I teamed it with my all-time-favourite black mules. Lastly, I finished off my look with a chain strap black crossbody bag and a pair of gold geometric earrings.

Being happy is a very personal thing and it really has nothing to do with anyone else.

Black Gingham Floral Embroidered Flared Sleeve Top

I never thought I would vibe any pattern besides stripes so much. And I’m definitely wrong when Gingham suddenly makes a major comeback. Right now, there are so many Gingham pieces hanging in my wardrobe! I just love how it gives off that summery and french vibes! Not to mention, it is also one of the easiest prints to pull off at any number of occasion, ranging from your workweek to your weekend! Hence, if you want to feel très chic, Gingham print can never go wrong!

***This post is sponsored by Shein.com. Shein is kind enough to let me pick one item from their website so I decided to expand my gingham collection with this beautiful floral embroidered gingham flare-sleeved top. And all the below are my honest opinion.

Before I jump straight to the lookbook, here are some tips on styling gingham without looking like a picnic cloth (lol).

1. Opt for black

It can look a little like those red-and-white tablecloths people use at picnics. Hence, if you don’t want to look very summery, I always go for black gingham print. Not to mention, the colour also makes it super versatile! You could literally cruise into any occasion and season effortlessly. But, this yellow one is really exception!

2. Give your gingham print that extra edge

I always love adding an edge to feminine pieces. You could give your gingham an edgy touch when you pair it with leather pieces.

3. Wear it with denim on casual days out

Want to look casual for class or running errands, just team it with a denim skirt, a pair of denim cutoffs, or jeans.

4. Add interest to it with a pop of colour

If you want to look fun and interested, don’t be afraid in adding a pop of colour. For instance, a black gingham top with a red vinyl skirt.

5. Sweater and Gingham skirt for cold weather

Who says Gingham can only be worn during Spring and Summer. You can always throw on your favourite sweater wit a gingham skirt to make an effortlessly chic outfit.

P.S. Don’t be a stranger, let’s connect on Instagram as well!

For today’s look, I want to create a look I can cruise from brunch session to work (fyi our office do not have justify dress code, feel free to make any amendments). Hence, I keep it classy with an all black palette.

For top, I wore the Gingham top from Shein. I really love how soft this top is and the fabric doesn’t itch my skin at all. My favourite part of this top is the long flare sleeves! Not only they act as power sleeves and make this top anything but boring. They also look flattering on the arms! Aside from the sleeves, the dainty floral embroidery that dancing all over the backdrop also add a pop of colour and interest to it! Lastly, the top is finished off with a tie accent open back that shows off a glimpse of your skin! In short, this top is definitely worthy any pennies.

For bottom, I wore my new purchase from Topshop, a high rise black denim skirt. I love the slightly figure hugging silhouette that gives me a well defined waistline and accentuates my curves. And the length is just perfect in flaunting my legs.

Lastly, I finished off my look with a pair of black lace-up high heel sandals and a black handbag.

Birthday Afternoon Tea at Macalister Mansion

One week before my birthday, my mom and sister decided to pamper me with a birthday tea session at Macalister Mansion. We’ve never been to Macalister Mansion so we think why not seize this occasion and give it a try.

The minute we step in the compound, we’re already amazed by the landscape. The magnificent white colonial facade is surrounded by beautiful greeneries, sculptures, a pool and a bar (which is literally bar goals and perfect for your Instagram!).
Keep reading and you’ll know why!

With walls, and ceiling painted with white hue, the interior gives off that bright and minimal vibes. The white lamps with a hint of gold are my favourites as they definitely complement the space even more! Not to mention, those greeneries and tiles just made this space even more aesthetic pleasing.

Spot my mom taking her instastory with her phone!

P.S. I ordered a hot chocolate but it doesn’t meet my expectation (it doesn’t have the rich chocolate taste) , so I don’t recommend that. Coffee and tea are still fine.

And walaaa, this chocolate brownie (my birthday cake) is my favourite among all! It is SO delicious, at one point we even wanted to order another one but we’re way too full! Every bite is filled with rich dark chocolate. So make sure you give it a try!

Talking about goals, nothing beats this bar! Not only it is located right beside the pool, but everything is white!!! If you’re obsessed with white and has a white theme for your instagram, you’ll definitely LOVE this space!

How I Style Corset Trend

The corset trend has been floating everywhere this year. If you keep an keen eye on the #OOTDs of social media’s fashion elites, you probably noticed a handful of looks styled with corset belt or corset tops! And for me I felt corset trend is like the extension of the lace-up trend in overall.

There are so many reasons to love this trend. First, they elevate your outfits instantly. You can be wearing basics but the moment you add that corset deets, it spices up your outfit. Second, it CINCHES your waist! Who doesn’t want to look a little slender especially on the waist?!

However there are a few things you have to take note while styling this trend.

  • Avoid at all costs showing too much skin. Since the corset already has sexual suggestiveness to it, you want to avoid looking like a dominatrix by showing too much cleavage. Instead, make sure to combine it with long sleeved garments such as maxi or midi skirts, long pants.
  • Go for monochromatic looks until you get the hang of it.
  • Beware of the proportion. Since the corset deets cinches your waist, try to pick skinnies compared to oversized bottoms, to balance the overall proportion. You do not want to end up looking as if you have a tiny waist but huge butt.

For this look, I keep it minimal by choosing the monochrome colour palette. “When in doubt, just wear black and white!” Like I said, proportion is crucial while styling this trend, hence, I teamed my Zara’ white corset top with my all time favourite Topshop’s Jamie Distressed Skinny Jeans. For shoes, I opted a pair of white pointed toe sling back platforms to elongate my figure. For bag, I carried a white mini saddle crossbody with a ring detail. Lastly, I spiced up my outfit with a pair of gold accent geometric earrings.

Romwe Off-The-Shoulder Ruffled Pom-Pom Shirt

Romwe-Off-The-Shoulder-Ruffled Pom-Pom-Shirt

Summer has almost come to an end, it’s time to incorporate off-the-shoulder into your everyday look as much as possible (naw it’s just another excuse for me to wear em as Malaysia is a country with 365 days of summer).

Before I jump straight to the lookbook, I want to mention that today’s post is sponsored by Romwe. They are kind enough to let me pick one item and this off-the-shoulder ruffled pom-pom shirt is my pick. I do not get paid to say any of these, they are all my honest thoughts.

Romwe-Off-The-Shoulder-Ruffled Pom-Pom-Shirt

I’ve mentioned it so many times, I bet you already knew I’m a girl who are obsessed with off-shoulders and ruffles. And when two of these are showcased in a top, it is definitely the best of both worlds!

In terms of quality, I’m pretty amazed! Even though it is cheap but it doesn’t look and feel cheap at all (not to say it looks high end). Crafted with utterly soft, lightweight and airy fabric, this top feels super comfy on the skin. And definitely the perfect staple for the scorching hot weather. But, be sure to iron it before wearing as it gets wrinkle pretty easily. It also showcases a gorgeous burgundy hue which not only complements the skin but also super versatile to cruise into any occasion. One thing I’m absolutely crushin’ is the pom-pom trim, as it definitely spices up this top and makes it anything but boring.

Since I want to create that feminine summery look which I can rock from brunch session to a stroll by the beach or park. I paired it with my all-time favourite short denim pencil skirt. The figure skimming silhouette is great in balancing the relaxed silhouette top. Not to mention, it also hides your thighs and only flaunts your slenderest part of legs. Making you look leaner and taller.

For shoes, I slip into my super comfy black espadrille wedges to pump up that summer mood. For bag, I carried a burgundy mini square crossbody to match with the top. Lastly, I finished off my look with a pair of dainty geometric gem earrings.

P.S I’m 170 cm, 55kg and the size I’m wearing is free size and it fits me perfectly with that elasticised neckline.
