Pidapipo, The Best Gelato Shop You Need to Visit in Melbourne

If you have a sweet tooth like me and crave for the authentic Gelato while you’re in Melbourne, don’t you dare to miss out Pidapipo! The trained chef, Lisa Valmorbida has travelled to Italy and studied at the Capigiani Gelato University, before returning to Melbourne to open up her own gelateria.

For those who don’t know what gelato is, it is Italy’s lighter version of ice-cream – milk, cream, sugar and eggs (not always, though), typically flavoured with nuts, pastes or fruits. What sets gelato apart from ice-cream is a lower butterfat content thanks to a milk-to-cream bias, and a denser, more elastic texture resulting from a slower churn and a warmer serving temperature.

The one we went to is located at Lygon Street, which can be easily accessed by tramp. From far away you could spot the Neon sign, saying Pidapipo. And if you visit during the peak time, the long queue is the easiest sign to locate this gelato shop.

You could either dine in or take away your gelato. We chose to dine in and sit at the window seat and enjoy watching the passerby. I was totally impressed by the interior design of this gelato space. With the marble counter and gold accent lamps, every corner is so aesthetic pleasing.

While waiting for your turn, you should definitely start to decide what flavour to get. To be honest, I got a huge dilemma in choosing as you can see the menu is literally endless!

On our first visit, I ordered Nutella Swirl with additional Nutella topping and pistachio. And baaam need to say more, both are absolutely delicious. I love how rich they are. While, my friend ordered a passion fruit gelato with a raspberry swirl. If you want something refreshing and sour, these two flavours will complement your tastebuds.

You know how good is their gelato when we stop by again on the next day. On the second day, I ordered Pistachio again, but I picked a new flavour, which is Strawberry Rose and Cream. If you love the smell of rose, you will definitely love this. This time my friend also ordered a Pistachio and a new flavour, Pineapple.

You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy gelato, and that’s kind of the same thing.

Getting dressed for work can be so effortless. All you need is a black blazer and you can achieve a sophisticate 9-5 look easily.  For mine, I teamed a basic white tee with a pair of black and white gingham skort. To add a structured layer, I team it with the no-brainer, black blazer. I love how it instantly gives off the smart vibe. For shoes, instead of opting a pair of black flats or pumps, I spiced things up with a pair of lace-up ballerina flats. Lastly, I finished off the look with a black leather handbag.
