Denim Jacket Lookbook (Not Your Typical Blue Ones)

No closet is complete without at least one denim jacket. And when I said that, I meant it as I have invested a few denim jackets in “50 shades of blue” and I love how they could make any of your look effortlessly chic. Recently I’ve got myself one denim jacket in black and another one in yellow. Hence, I think it is the perfect time to share my tips on styling these non-quintessential denim jackets!

***The yellow denim jacket & red striped top which I’m wearing are sponsored by Shein. As usual, I won’t be bias and all my opinions are truthful.

P.S. Don’t be a stranger, let’s connect on Instagram as well!

For the first look, I teamed the yellow distressed denim jacket with a black crop top, a black and white gingham print skort and a pair of black pointed-toe flats. Since, I’m wearing a refulgent yellow denim jacket, i think it is best that I team it with neutral shades so that the outfit won’t look like they are all over the place. In addition, it also allows the yellow denim jacket to do the talking!

On a side note: The yellow denim jacket is pretty boxy and it is in a crop length, so if you wan’t something oversize, make sure you upsize it. The size I’m wearing is size L. And to be honest, the denim jacket is not that thick, so I don’t suggest you to wear it to beat the cold.

For the second look, I teamed my black denim jacket with a red and white striped pullover (to add a pop of colour), a pair of black mom-jeans and a pair of white sneakers. I’ve got to admit black denim jacket is super versatile when comes to styling.

P.S I didn’t expect the quality of the red white striped pullover to be that good for the price.  It is thick and super soft, you could totally rock em when the temperature drops. Furthermore, the shade of red also turns out perfectly. Not to mention, the heart patchwork on the top also makes this pullover anything but boring!

For the third look, I decided to go monochrome// ALL BLACK. All black ain’t boring when you play around with different textures. For top, I wore a black basic tee. Then, I teamed it with a pair of black distressed skinnies. For shoes, I wore a pair of black sneakers with gold accent on it. I also wore a belt with silver hardware and carried a black mini crossbody with silver chain. Lastly, I added a pop of colour with my red beanie.

How to Style: 1 Floral Print Top 2 Ways

how-to-style-1-floral-print-top-2-ways

Floral print has become one of the timeless print that you could literally cruise from Spring to Winter! I love how floral print is so versatile and gives you plenty of opportunities to mix and match with other fashion pieces.

  1. For a more feminine aesthetic you could wear in Spring or Summer, team them with white pieces (such as a white skirt or any bright colours pieces). Or you may opt for bouquets in bold and bright colors, or in watercolor pastels.
  2. If you want something edgier you could cruise into Fall and Winter, tone it down. Even thought floral prints can be bright and bold, you can easily tone down your floral pattern by wearing them with black pieces. Or the easiest way is to throw them on with a classic denim jacket, a slick, leather jacket, and sporty footwear or your badass combat boots.

For a feminine and edgy look you could wear to a date night, I team a black floral print ruffled sleeves top (from Zara) with a black leather skirt (from Topshop). To inject a feminine accent, I wore a pair of black pointed-toe flats and wore a classic red lipstick. Lastly, I finished off my look by carrying a black chain leather crossbody.

For the second look, I wanted something casual yet put together to cruise from 9 to 5 and anything in between. Hence, I teamed the floral top with a pair of black distressed jeans (from Topshop). For shoes, I slipped into a pair of black suede mules. To create that clean look, I pulled my hair into a sleek ponytail. Lastly, I wore a pair of hoop earrings and carried a black leather chain crossbody and call it a day!
